Art Classes in Old San Juan every Thursday, Friday, Saturday. The classes offered by the studio at Foro Galeria are dedicated to a rigorous study of life. Observational drawing and painting is encouraged, in conjunction with the development of analytic visual theory. In his Basic Drawing class Luis Borrero covers linear perspective and the behavior of light as it applies to form. Students experiment with drawing materials, such as different types and tones of paper, and mediums such as charcoal and ink. They begin working from simple organic and geometric forms (spheres and cubes), and progress to still life objects, and finally to cast drawing. Amber Lia-Kloppel’s Basic Painting class studies the most fundamental aspects of painting, such as how to create a coherent tonal structure in paint. Varied oil paint brands, medium mixtures, types of brushes, and their specific characteristics are explored.
